Rolls-Royce has a wealth of experience in providing service support for our customers’ engines. Over the last five years we’ve taken these services to new levels in response to the change in customer demand. Our vision is to always be customers’ first choice when they are looking for service support for our products.
As much as 50% of the Group’s business now comes from full-life care contracts with our customers. Our engineers monitor, maintain and overhaul our products, making sure they perform at optimum levels throughout their entire lifespan. The Rolls-Royce Gas Turbine Services business, for example, has 16 sites on four continents and the capability to overhaul 40 engine types, providing comprehensive support to our civil fleet of around 4,500 installed engineers.
With the strong market need for our service support, it’s no surprise that business has been booming. In fact, Services revenues increased by 13% last year to £5.5 billion. Right now we have over 30 marine service centres in operation around the world and 350 industrial gas turbines covered by long-term service contracts. We also recently secured major contracts for our Tornado, Typhoon and C-130J engines.
